I have been DYING to get myself over to Santa Fe for probably the last year or so, hearing everyone rave about the art walks, the shopping, museums, hikes, and let’s not forget the food has me in disbelief that it took me THIS long to plan a trip! So when my sister offered up the idea to road trip it and make it a little girls weekend, I jumped at the offer.
I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed this trip, with lots of help from some pretty amazing travelers and food & drink connoisseurs. Naturally I couldn’t wait to share it all with you, so I present to you…
My Santa Fe Travel Guide
How We Got There
ROADTRIP. From Denver it was about a 5 1/2 hour drive, I am happy we had our car for some of the farther away hikes we did- BUT it did feel a little long and I am tempted to fly next go around, haha!
Where We Stayed
Four Seasons Rancho Encantado in Santa Fe and I can’t say enough good things! The property was insane- we couldn’t miss a sunset from their patio. The service was too good to be true and our room made it so easy to relax after a day of exploring we felt so good every morning. Not to mention they have trails right outside of their hotel you can hike, shuttle service, and AMAZING food.
What We Did
okay, so I’m not gunna lie I did not think this was going to be my thing- but we had a BLAST! It’s so weird but in all the coolest ways; secret passages, crazy art everywhere, and super interactive- you can touch everything! We had a drink in their little lobby area and then spent a few hours just going through each room! I guess everyone was right, if you are in Santa Fe you gotta do it!
This hike was STUNNING, like one of those mind-blowing moments where you are like “Jesus, you are SO cool”. We did have to drive like 40 minutes, and they don’t let too many people in at once so had to wait a little for some people to finish- but we went on Sunday morning so I am sure that added to the wait. I have to point out though my sister and I both completely agreed it was worth the wait!
Georgia O’ Keeffe Museum
I honestly wanted to go here totally based off of recommendation and without even knowing much about this insane artist. I am now FULL BLOWN obsessed with her and her work and her words. The museum was small, quant, and the perfect way to learn more about this artist and her life. I left with three prints, two magnets, and looking up everything I could about her! haha.
Shopping At The Plaza
We were around The Plaza a ton this trip- it is where so much good food and shopping is! You can pop in and out of some of the coolest authentic shops that have amazing hats, boots, turquoise and home decor. I also really enjoyed the street vendors that were selling some gorgeous handmade pieces for reasonable prices.
Walk down Canyon Road
This strip is full of amazing art galleries, shopping, restaurants that everyone is raving about, and cute little coffee spots! I recommend planning a dinner on Canyon Road and walking it before or after.
What We Ate And Drank
So good we went twice, haha! We were told to go here for lunch and it was SO GOOD we had it on our way out of town too- not to mention the sweetest service and cutest decor. You can order yummy liver cleansing juices or sparkling rose, haha #balance
We had THE best time here- good wine, amazing tapas, AND LIVE MUSIC. Perfect dinner spot and in great location.
I was so creepy here, haha I was like taking a million photos, wanting to buy everything, and chatting up the staff- basically pretending I was trying to move in. Such a cool space with great coffee, juice, pastries, and other small bites!
Colorful, fun, jam packed and UNREAL food. To get a little bit of New Mexico flair food in a cute space- this is your spot! We had such a fun lunch here.
This cocktail lounge that is in The Hotel St Francis is BEYOND! We had so much fun sitting at the cool bar area and trying a few of their unique cocktails- perfect way to start your night or to have a night cap!
The Four Seasons Patio
SUNSET HERE is a MUST. Like we did this both nights because we didn’t want to miss a second of it. The view from their patio is so gorgeous. We split their green chili burger and I was like FLOORED, haha so we ordered it both nights! The drinks and service and menu just can’t be beat.
We really did have an amazing list of recommendations that we just didn’t have the time to check out so here are a few that come highly praised and can’t wait to try next time around…
Now, when is our next trip?! 😉
I hope you liked this guide and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to know more about any of the places we went! Also, I want to hear your favorites, because I am already dying to go back!
