Hi My Loves, and Happiest of Monday’s to YOU.
I am all about the good ol’ healthy snacks- especially things that are easy to whip together. I love having some trail mix in the jars in my kitchen so I can easily fill up a little container and GET GOIN’.
So I decided to share a little SUPER FOOD TRAIL MIX how-to because it’s been my latest obsession for a little snack that is filling and FULL of energy!
I know sometimes Trail Mix can get a bad rep, because it can be high in sugar and fats. But I think if you pack it with the GOOD kinds, it’s such a great on-the-go snack!
I pretty much restrict myself to about 1/3 a cup (unless I don’t have time for a meal during the day or it’s a extra active kinda day). And I think this amount is perfect to keep you full with lots of fiber, benefits from these super foods, and the right types of fat and sugars!
Super Food Trail Mix Recipe:
1/2 cup of Almonds
1/4 cup of Walnuts
1/4 cup of Pumpkin Seeds
1/4 cup of Sunflower Seeds
3 TBSP raw Cacao Nibs
1/4 cup of Goji Berries
1/4 cup of Cranberries
***I bought everything from the bulk section at Whole Foods and made sure that none of the nuts were salted and there was no added sugar in any of the fruits- that the ingredients just said the main item, NOTHING else.***
One thing for me, is I usually stick to having trail mix earlier in the day when it makes sense that I need the fuel. Sometimes I just have a little handful with some coffee before a workout, or as a midday pick me up if I am really on the go. It’s perfect to just have a little container in your purse, at your office, or even in the car!
I think part of the reason I am so obsessed with this style trail mix these days is also it looks SO CUTE in a clear jar for a little display in your kitchen! All the cute pops of color are aesthetically pleasing. #BASIC (I know, haha)
Darlings, I know how busy life gets and if you are that person who loves a little handful of almonds on the regular- I hope this helps you spice things up a little!
And, since I love including a little song recommendation for your workouts if you haven’t heard Reminding Me To Forget by Miguel and Kygo then you are missing out!!
